Here at FlashFacts, we plan to adhere to a specific set of guidelines to make your experience as great as possible. Those – as well as some unrelated observations – are all recorded here.
As we develop our suite of mobile app products, we want to make sure you, our hopeful customer-to-be, know what you’re going to get ahead of time. Some rules that we’ll do our very best to follow are:
- We will not put ads in our apps. We will also not put any in-app purchases or subscriptions in our apps. In our opinion, apps that have these tend to have degraded usability or performance, mainly because the developers push these monetary opportunities onto the user.
- If there are any costs associated with our app, they will be in the form of the app’s initial cost. This means that the only money you will spend on the app, should you spend any, will be when you first purchase it. This also allows us to focus more of our energy on developing and expanding our product base, as opposed to customer support.
- We will not change the app’s price after launch. If the price is lowered, then people who already have the app would regret getting it. If the price is increased, then people who were going to get the app might not.
- We will price all of our apps reasonably – although there exist apps that can charge ten or twenty dollars for a robust set of features, none of our apps will require a very large purchase.
- We will do our best to not collect any data. These apps are meant to help you review content you have already learned, brush up on some stuff you may have forgotten, or even to build a set of subject-specific trivia data! None of that requires us knowing your name, where you live, your location, or your financial information.
- We will also not stop you from practicing. Some apps’ business models only allow for a given amount of use; ours will let you use them as much as you want. We will also not intentionally restrict an app’s features, especially if it’s a paid app.
- Although this might change, we will not advertise for our apps outside of the App Store or our own website/media. Advertising is a good way to build an app’s user base, but we believe in focusing on a good app and relying on word of mouth. Also, we get how annoying it is when you see the same ads over and over – so we won’t associate our app with that!
We hope that you appreciate the guidelines that we follow, and we hope to separate ourselves from other apps by using this business structure. If there are any violations to these rules, we will inform you and all other users, and provide a sincere explanation for why they occurred.
(Don’t worry about that happening too often though – it takes effort to break these rules, and we don’t see the reason to!)
That’s all for now, and happy practicing!
